About the Academy

Africa's energy transition will be run by people. We train them.

GEPA Energy Leadership Academy is the teaching arm of Graced Energy Professionals for Africa. It exists because the sector's hardest problems are not technical — they are decisions taken by people who were never trained to take them.

Africa's energy build-out is being planned, financed, licensed and operated right now, largely by professionals who learned on the job. The engineering is taught. The judgement around it — how to structure a venture, how to hold a governance line under pressure, how to speak to a regulator, how to run the team that has to deliver — mostly is not.

So the Academy teaches that, in short structured courses built from workshops recorded with working practitioners, assessed rather than merely watched, and certified in a way that an employer can check in one click without taking anyone's word for it.

What we teach

Nine focus areas across the sector

01

Energy leadership

What changes when you stop running a function and start carrying the organisation — board papers, capital discipline, and the judgement to say no.

02

Clean energy entrepreneurship

Pressure-test a venture against a named customer, real evidence of demand, and the licensing route you actually have to use.

03

Ethics and governance

Where the pressure comes from, what a defensible decision looks like on paper, and how it survives an audit two years later.

04

Government relations

How energy policy is actually made in practice, who moves it, and how to be useful in a room you do not control.

05

Stakeholder management

Mapping who genuinely matters, communicating for influence rather than information, and building trust before the day you need it.

06

HR and organisational management

The people systems that decide whether a plant, a project or a young company delivers: hiring, performance, and the cost of getting it wrong.

07

Personal development

Taking career decisions deliberately — what to learn next, what to turn down, and how to be ready before the seat opens.

08

Investor readiness

The evidence an investor asks for, the numbers underneath the narrative, and the questions to answer before the meeting rather than during it.

09

Energy foundations

Start here if the sector is new to you: vocabulary, structure, and who does what across generation, transmission and supply.

How a course works

Four things that are true of every course here

01

Watch, then prove it

Every lesson ends with a short check. You cannot finish a course by leaving a video playing in another tab.

02

Practitioners, not lecturers

Faculty running ventures, advising regulators and sitting on the boards they teach about.

03

Built for African markets

Licensing routes, tariff reality and capital scarcity — the constraints you actually have to design around.

04

Works on a phone

Audio mode drops the picture and keeps the lesson, for when data costs more than time.

Why it holds up

A certificate is only worth what someone can check.

Every GEPA credential is issued against completed lessons and passed assessments, numbered, and published to a page that shows the learner's name, the course, the date and the status — and nothing else. No login, no email, no PDF anyone has to trust.

Where to start

Take a single course, follow a whole track, or ask us which one fits the job you are trying to do.
