Strategic Relevance in the Marketplace
The spiritual and physical pillars behind lasting influence in Africa's energy sector
Watch a 96-second preview
Why spiritual depth without professional skill, or the reverse, falls short
A faith-based leadership session on the two pillars of marketplace relevance: priestly practices and prophetic assistance on one side, competence, character and courage on the other.
About this course
This course is built from GEPA's December leadership workshop, taught as a single session by a guest speaker who is a pastor, mentor and coach, and a medical doctor by training. It is explicitly a faith teaching for working professionals. His starting point is Isaiah chapter 2: that in this season a major part of God's strategy for reaching nations runs through believers who are professionals and business people, so a career or a business is not only a place to earn a living, it is a place of mission.
The framework comes from James 2:26. A body without a spirit is dead, and the speaker says he also heard that a spirit without a body is irrelevant on the earth. Anything that will carry weight here therefore needs both. He names the spiritual pillars first: priestly practices, meaning a structured system of interaction with God through a personal prayer altar, the word, giving, kingdom service and praise, and prophetic assistance, meaning having people in priestly ministry who speak over your work. He illustrates these with the founder of Econet, with a Nigerian oil industry figure who ran repeated forty-day fasts under pressure, and with Daniel, Esther and Jacob.

The second half covers the physical pillars, which he calls the three Cs. Competence means industry-specific knowledge and leadership skill, pursued aggressively, because grace amplifies skill rather than replacing it. Character means integrity and trust, developed like a muscle every time you refuse a compromise. Courage means the fortitude to dare before every resource is in place, illustrated by Peter walking on water and by his own conviction that even a step that fails leaves you far ahead of those who never moved.
It is written for mid-career energy professionals who want to think about their working life as more than a job, and who are ready to audit both sides of their practice honestly. The session is a single talk with a short question-free close, so the course follows the speaker's own arc rather than imposing a framework he did not use.
